I came across this article today and it really hit home with me. I was a complete failure at breastfeeding. I felt like with my first child I was bombarded at the hospital with too much information about how I should breastfeed.

Long before electric blenders and Gerber baby food, infants got most of their protein from human breast milk until their 2-year-old molars allowed them to chomp on animal tissue.
With my second I was a lot more successful, I lasted about 6 weeks. With number 3 I thought surely I can do this, no problem. I was engorged within days and threw my hands up in defeat. I really wanted to breastfeed but the demands of my daily and personal life just made it so difficult. That, coupled with a lot of mis-information and lack of support made my decision to stop the breast and switch to formula very easy.
It is amazing to think how our ancestors survived. It was breast or death! They had no excuses like I did. I hope I can support all of those breastfeeding Moms out there. I like to think that Bloom provides it’s customers with the equipment and emotional support that they need to continue to breastfeed. Although in the end, it is ultimately a Mother’s decision to breastfeed or not to breastfeed.

Before having my third child I made a point of getting rid of all of my old baby bottles since BPA was becoming such a hot topic. I purchased great BPA free bottles from Born Free and Dr. Brown’s. What I wasn’t thinking about was all of the rest of the plastic in my household – water bottles and soup cans just to name a few. Why isn’t the USA taking a tougher stance on BPA regulations?

We are responsible for providing our children with a safe and healthy environment.
As a parent we want to provide a safe and healthy environment. Now I am feeling so guilty about re-heating baby food in a plastic container! I think this is a great article about the myths and dangers of BPA that is all around us. And now that you know, please tell your friends.

When you see a Mom breastfeeding in public, does it make you squirm?
How do you feel about breastfeeding? Do you squirm when you see someone breastfeeding in public? Did you breastfeed in public? Did you make an effort to cover up? Do you think breastfeeding should only be done in private?

I have talked at great length about my baby food making experiences and how much I love my BEABA Babycook! I have taken a couple of weekends off from making baby food because of traveling out of town and was so happy to get back home and start making baby food again. The store bought stuff is really bland and tastes about the same! A couple of you have asked me to share some of my favorite recipes and I thought I would share this quick tip!
After a 7 hour car trip the other day, we stopped at the grocery store and bought a rotisserie chicken. I made some applesauce in my Babycook and then threw in the leftover chicken. I tasted it and it was good but definitely needed something. That is when my husband, the chef gave me a wonderful book from his culinary school days! It list food matches for every kind of fruit and vegetable you can think of. So I looked up apples and here is the very condensed list of spices and flavors that best go with apples:
- Brown sugar
- Calvados
- Caramel
- Cheese
- Cinnamon
- Cloves
- Cream
- Custard
- Ginger
- Lemon
- Nutmeg
- Pepper, black
- Raisins
- Rum
- Vanilla

Making baby food is not only easy, it is fun too!
- Walnuts
I opted out of adding alcohol and nuts to my meal but the others sounded great. So I added a little ground cloves to my chicken and applesauce concoction and it was PERFECT! Not to mention my babe loved it!
Happy cooking!
