Cascarones Chaos

Prepping 15 dozen eggs to be crushed.

Here is my Sunbeam preparing Cascarones for the first time.

Cascarones are hollowed out eggs, colored and filled with confetti. Traditionally they are cracked over each other’s head during the 10-day Fiesta celebration in San Antonio. However we’ll be spending Easter dinner with some friends who have a family tradition of hiding about 60 dozen cascarones and then fanatically cracking them over each other. My husband and I have deemed it the “Cascarones Chaos.”

This will be our third year participating in this annual tradition. We made fifteen dozen eggs for this year’s hunt. Whew!

What Easter traditions do you have in your family? I think I know what ours will be when the boys are older — and what a mess!
