Last week I journeyed to Dallas for Market. I’ve always heard small boutique owners talk about going to market, and it always seemed like this far off place in Never Neverland. For those who love to shop, it’s a dream come true.
What would seem to some as a glorious shopping trip is to others a daunting task. For two days I probably viewed over more than 1,000 items of clothing. Then add maternity and baby accessories on to that. The smartest tip I received? Wear comfortable shoes.

One of the most refreshing maternity lines I saw for the Fall comes from Lilac. The co-owner and co-designer Becca Taylor presented the line to me. After owning a maternity store and listening to the needs of their customers, she along with her sister started to design maternity clothes.
What I loved about their line of clothes is that they transition so well from maternity to post-maternity and beyond. Plus the clothes are stylish enough for those who are never pregnant but want to hide a few bumps here and there. Another benefit? Their fall line provides a nice mix and match of items where three to five pieces can turn into six to 10 outfits. Becca is spunky and smart and I think her clothing line is a perfect reflection of her personality.

Will I choose the right styles for all of you Bloomers? Will I choose the items that will help you transition from maternity into motherhood? I sure hope I do, however if Bloom Maternity is missing something that you think would benefit you and all other mothers out there, please drop me a line and I’ll do my best to provide for you.
Hi! I’m Ellen Evans, the entrepreneur behind the NEW Bloom Maternity online community
This idea has been incubating since last fall, when I was looking for a new challenge after the birth of my second child. When the owners of the Bloom Maternity store in San Antonio decided to move on, I knew that it would be an exciting challenge to take the business online and see how it could grow.
Like many career women, I am trying to balance the excitement of a career and the fulfillment of motherhood while still keeping my sanity. Launching a business with an infant in the house is pretty insane, but I had this idea in my head that I could start this from home and watch it, and my children, grow at the same time.
The memories of struggling to find beautiful, well fitting clothes during my pregnancy was still fresh and I want to help other women feel great in their clothes while their bodies are blooming!
I was surprised by how difficult it was to find pants that I could get up past my knees; and when the pants did fit, I spent all day trying to keep them up.
I know I’m not the only woman with this problem. I may not be a Paris Hilton sized 0 or 1, but I was also NOT contending for the world record as largest-ever pregnant woman, so why was it so hard to find what I liked?
Well, I’ve found those pants in Noppies and some of the clothing lines that I loved will be carried on the new Bloom Maternity site. Oh, and those Noppies pants? I passed those on to my sister-in-law, who then gave them back to me for my second pregnancy. Now they are in Atlanta helping my friend Khara transition post-pregnancy. They have been coined the “traveling pants.”
So welcome to Bloom. I Hope to see you back here again and again as we build out our selections for great maternity clothing.
Bloom's selection of prefolds and pocket diapers ready for the class!
Last night Bloom held its first cloth diapering class and it was a huge success! We had lots of interested Moms with lots of great questions. Kim Webb of RockinGreenSoap.com lead the class and made us all fall in love with cloth diapering and especially GAD pocket diapers. I personally hope that I have bought my last box of disposable diapers! In fact the baby was sporting pre-folds this morning! I brought home the medium and large GAD diapers to fit her and she can wear both sizes. Now back to the store to pick out great colors and inserts, home for washing and we should be ready to rock the cloth diapers! Missed the class? No worries, give us a call and we can schedule a one-on-one with you!! Call us at 210-824-2727 or email me at email@example.com
Expectant Moms were getting the facts about cloth diapering.
